Dropped in for dinner here. I loved their Noida restaurant and the food they served.
The Defence Colony branch Desi Vibes is bigger, spread over three floors. The decor is in similar lines to that of their other branches, rustic and provide an ambiance of the typical Punjabi pind. The mud covered walls, an old cycle in the wall, the front of an auto rickshaw as billing counter, a miniature well, a cast iron hand pump, a stone grinder and earthen pots with lights inside, all add to this experience.
We were served couple of glasses of shikanji and mini roasted papads with an array of pickles to start with. The range of pickles – aubergine, lime, mango, garlic in spicy and sweet versions – were all exciting.
For the main course we ordered a Dal Makhani Punjabi Style, Fauji Chowk ka Lasooni Tikka Masala, Butter Naan, Tandoori Roti and Laccha Parantha. Dal Makhani primarily tasted of cream and butter and little bite of the split pulses.
The tikka masala had four boneless pieces of chicken in a thick gravy. The tikkas tasted chalky and no taste of the protein or the garlic.
The breads were also average.
The service, like their ambiance was good. But the food, disappointing.
