I have been visiting Big Chill restaurants, in Khan Market and Kailash Colony, for a pretty long time. Yesterday, I dropped into the Big Chill restaurant in Khan Market for an early dinner.
We started our dinner with a Chicken and Mushroom Soup and a Cold Cut Platter. The soup taste nice, but the chunky pieces of chicken in the soup, instead of being succulent, were a little fibrous.
The platter was amazing. It had assorted cuts of ham, chicken salami, garlic salami, chicken frankfurter and pepperoni served with tartar sauce and gherkins. This dish was presented well too.
For the main course, we ordered a Mustard and Herb Grilled Chicken. This had a breast of chicken marinated and basted with mustard, tarragon and wine vinegar grilled to perfection and served with cheesy potatoes, pasta and Mediterranean salad. Though the dish had all the flavours right, I wish it was presented better.
Big Chill has been always serving delicious food, which has been consistent over the years. I have always loved their Pizzas, Pastas, Grilled Peri Peri Chicken, Greek Salad and Steak with Green Peppercorn.
Alas, the service has not been consistent. The guy standing at the entrance was first hesitant to give us a table for two, though I found that half of the second floor was empty. When I clicked the first picture, they came and told me that photography was not allowed. The whole time we were in the restaurant, they were hovering over us and most the servers spoke bad English and were ineligible for the job assigned. We did not feel welcome in this restaurant because of bad service.
Big Chill deserves a 4.5/5 for the food quality. Unfortunately the quality of service does not match up to that of food. So its a 3.5/5 from me.
