Moti Mahal Delux in Defence Colony has undergone a facelift and currently they are offering a festival menu consisting of unlimited kebabs, a point of beer or soft drink, dal makhni, a variety of Indian breads and desserts.
I visited the revamped restaurant for lunch. The restaurant, spread over three floors looks chic. But the third floor is most impressive (yes, they have a lift), in terms of decor and houses the bar.
I was served a platter of kebabs – Machli kebab, Chicken Malai Tikka, Chicken Chilli Milli, Mutton Seekh Kebab and Kasturi Kebab as appetisers! The kebabs were good particularly the Machli Kebab and chicken Chilli Milli. But, the Chicken Malai Tikka, I thought, was just ordinary. It was not succulent and was devoid of any flavours.
I opted for a Garlic Naan and Dal Makhni. Both these were really good and was almost perfect.
For desserts, they gave me Gulab Jamun and Phirni. Phirni looked really appetising with saffron threads decorating the reamy top layer.
The service of the restaurant was good. What this restaurant requires is a well curated menu and an inspired chef to create fireworks.
