Had lunch in Smokey’s BBQ and Grill today. We were perched on the second floor and is quite place with elaborate bar, colourful huge vodka bottles and great casual atmosphere.
To cool ourselves we ordered couple of glasses of Bira beer which was served chilled. We ordered two starters – Prawn and Calamari Ajilo and 3 Cheese Stuffed Jalapenos.
The baked Jalapenos were stuffed with scarmozo, cottage cheese and cheddar and served with a spicy sauce/salsa and quite a riot on the taste buds. But the Prawn and Calmari Ajilo had more soothing flavours, of the sea. This was prawns and squid sauteed with garlic, coriander in a prawn stock. Though, the quantity was little smaller, the taste of the dish made up for this.
For the main course (one more glass of Bira down) we ordered Grilled Chicken Breast with Chilly Lemon Rind and Thyme and Ras el Hanout Marinated Red Snapper.
The chicken dish had grilled chicken breast marinated in smoked reshampatty chilli and thyme and was served with chicken jus and side of salad and baked cubed potatoes. Reshampatti chili powder is brighter and hotter than regular chili powder and it imparts a brighter red color to the dish. Along with the green of the salad and brown baked potatoes it was visuall quite appealing. An absolutely well prepared meal. The red snapper fillets marinated in a spice mix from North Afica were served with spicy rice and lemon butter sauce and probably the best dish among the lot.
An absolutely delightful meal with great dishes, wonderful presentation and great hospitality!
